It's the end of Google Video, Notebook, and Jaiku as we know it
Some of the services will still be around for a while, but active development has stopped which means there won't be any new features for Google Notebook or Google Video. And in a few months Google will stop accepting new uploads for Google Video which means the site will function as a video search engine and a repository of old videos.
Google Catalog Search is going away altogether, as is Dodgeball and Google Mashup Editor. Micro-blogging service Jaiku will live on as an open source project that will be maintained by volunteers from Google and outside.
Yesterday Google also wrote on its official blog that the company is eliminating about 100 recruiting jobs and may lose some of its engineering staff as the company tries to relocate some job positions.

Like I said in the post, Google isn't killing Google Notebook, it's just stopping development. So you can still use the service, but you won't see any new features anytime soon.

Makes sense for the stop on Google Video, why continue to develop for 2 video sites now that they have Youtube?
I've never heard of Dodgeball or Jaiku before

It'd be nice if they did something productive with GrandCentral already. I wouldn't mind having a phone number in my new area code (I moved across the country)

I've been using Zotero and OneNote over Google Notebook. Very pleased.
When I first saw the announcement I was afraid they were dumping Grand Central. I too wish they would figure out what to do with it.

Google Video isn't a surprise. I don't think it ever took off, which got Google to purchase YouTube instead. Seemed really redundant to have Google Video last this long. I think MSN Video is one of the worst video sites to upload to, but Google Video is even worse.
Google Notebook? I'm pretty surprised. There's good alternatives though, like OneNote, Live Thumbtacks, and Evernote.
Jaiku was actually pretty swell, before Google bought it. It just didn't have access everywhere like Twitter did. Too bad it's going down the drain.

I like Google notebooks because it can be installed on IE and Firefox, so I can access my notes from work, where we are only allowed to use IE. I'm glad it's not going away altogether, and considering how annoying Google's recent tweaks have been for iGoogle and Google Reader, I am relieved to hear that they won't be messing around with it anymore.

No tears will I shed. Google is just another big corporation that has been leveraging its brand and trying to use the public to further its bottom line. Maybe it's time to ask why Google can show so many vids without paying royalties? A good ride for a few no doubt.

What about MeasureMap - analytics for bloggers? I has been locked for so long and then they are not accepting any new subscribers.
