How to say where is the bathroom in 34 languages at once
Nice Translator is powered by Google Translate, so you get the same results from Google. But the interface is incredibly easy to use. Just select the languages you want to translate text into and start typing. Nice Translator will convert your words as soon as you type them.
The site also works on mobile devices like the iPhone if you happen to need to ask a passing stranger if you're getting a good price on that souvenir you've been haggling over. The answer, by the way, is probably no.

Norwegian translation, not so good
"kjekk liten, det betyr i sanntid"
lit. small hansom, it means in real-time
which if said could mean, 'Nifty', that means 'in realtime'
a better translation would be «Smart/Kult/Fett, den oversetter i sanntid/ mens du skriver»

Needs an English to American translator .. I remember being in the US and asking "where is the toliet" .. nobody had any idea what I was talking about. Then there are always fun and games with accents .. tried to order a Tuna dish in a resturant and the waitress kept replying "so ya want the chicken?".

What state were you in? Sounds like they don't understand proper English. I'm American, but I'm cultured enough to understand the linguistic differences between American English and other forms of English. "Water Closet", for example, is something many Americans wouldn't understand. It's sad, really; America is one of the most influential nations in the world, yet many of its own citizens are ignorant of different cultures. Some blame the media, but honestly, with the internet the way it is now, it's nobody's fault but the individual.
Anyway, sorry you had a crappy time in the US. Hopefully you try it again sometime; there are smart people here. We just get drowned out sometimes. >.

@Michael, Chicago and then Boston IIRC. Don't get me wrong, every time I've been to the US has been a great experience. To be honest that kind of thing can happen anywhere. I live in the southern part of Australia and have a reasonable Aussie twang but when I was travelling up North was frequently asked if I was from England? Still I've never been as concerned for my personal safety as much as when travelling around different parts of the US, it's an amazing place but very scary.

Good point, but remember these guys do a lot more than post articles, so work can sometimes come out rushed.
Still, it's a good suggestion; I'd like to see it implemented.

Two problems:
1. Doesn't work on my Voyager, which is essentially and iPhone 3G only faster and w/o Flash installed
2. This is pointless if we can't read the language! What if I needed to use the restroom in Japan? I can't read those symbols!
