Grab yourself a free 1-year license for McAfee 2009

The suite is normally priced at $39.99 for a single pc, but entering the promotional code ****** will apply the discount. Licenses for up to four additional PCs can be added for an extra $10 each. The site is also offering a three system, one year license of McAfee Internet Security 2009 for $34.99 (a $35 discount).
The latest release has gotten fairly good reviews and boasts increased speed as well as improved virus detection and removal. If you're a McAfee fan, this offer is too good to pass up.
Update: As indicated in the comments, the offer is only valid for specific people - not the general public. In the interest of saving you some grief, the code and links have been removed.

Cute! McAfee is attempting to build up a user base to pull in the renewal dollars before Microsoft starts its free anti virus application distribution announced for Summer 2009.

You mean the free AV that they basically gave up on? "Buy OneCare! Oh wait, we're not making money on it, nevermind, we quit...oh wait, I mean we quit charging for it! Microsoft is here for you!"
If you're going to go for a free AV, at least try something other than the company that makes the insecure software in the first place.

It definitely looks like a play for subscriptions...but then, they're a business. Can't fault them for trying to make some recurring income.
I'm plenty happy with my NOD32 though.

I can get McAfee free from my ISP. Only the subscription runs out after four months. No thanks.
I can't stand McAfee. No thanks.
I am a user of CheckFree via my credit union, and I haven't seen squat. No thanks.

In a time when you can get world class software like Nod32 and 'free' products (like Avast, AVG and Avira) which perform better - why on earth would people still use Mcafee?

If you have Cox as your ISP you can download the McAfee suite for free from cox.com. They don't really advertise this very well, but it's available. Although after using it for 3 weeks or so I went back to my standby of AVG Free & Comodo Firewall.
