SendMeHome might help you get lost stuff back

SendMeHome
Ever left your iPod on a plane? Or set your digital camera down to pay for something and then left it behind? So far I haven't, but it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility. I travel somewhat frequently and take all my gadgets with me when I do.

If you have stuff that might get lost, or have kids that tote iPods and such around, SendMeHome might be worth checking out. It's a simple, free service. Register your stuff (from credit cards to lunchboxes, tennis rackets to electronic gear) and either order or print our labels.

The service has templates for a wide range of Avery labels or you can order SendMeHome.com logo labels with space to write the identification number of the item. Logo labels range in price - 25 labels will cost you $7.99. You could also use a permanent marker and write the web site and identification number yourself.

The tricky part is getting the person who found your stuff to actually log in and return it to you. I have a feeling this won't be helpful when I lose my iPod somewhere in my house yet again either. Oh well.
