Meebone beta brings Meebo to your desktop

When attempting to login to AIM, Meebone was confused by a space in one of our user names. Other IM clients and services -- even Meebo itself -- aren't usually bothered by spaces. But that was our only major issue with the AIR-based app. And we're hoping it will be fixed before Meebone graduates from beta.
We tested the app with Google Talk and AIM accounts. Each logged-in successfully, brought up buddy lists, etc, etc. In other words, it introduced a basic Meebo set-up to our desktop, and we liked it. Just barely, but we did like it even though it sort of defeats the purpose of Meebo itself.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

So at first IRC was only available on the command line, and then there were desktop apps which made it easier to use, and then there was Meebo which made the desktop interface more portable, and now there's a desktop version of Meebo which uh ... well, I'm not sure what it does, but I, for one, can't wait until there's a command line version of the Meebo desktop app.

LOL, it may be *very* useful in organizations where desktop chat clients are blocked and employees resort to web clients like meebo. I personally dont fancy chatting via a web-based client so if that functionality can be brought back to the desktop... i would jump at it.

This could be pretty cool. We might be adopting Meebo as a way for some of our staff to connect with our patrons since it gives us all of our IM IDs (I've set us up with most of that majors). But I get a little bummed that you MUST leave that page open, so having this on the desktop could be a bonus, especially when a staffer gets bored and surfs away from meebo... disconnecting from it.
