Mozilla launches Firefox 3 RC2
So what's new with Firefox 3 RC2? Not a whole heck of a lot that you'll notice. This release wasn't about adding new features, but rather fixing bugs. There's still a rather lengthy list of known issues which you can read about in the release notes.
Also, keep in mind that installing Firefox 3 RC 2 will overwrite your previous Firefox installation. You shouldn't lose any bookmarks or preferences, but some add-ons may stop working until the developers update those extensions.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.

Strangely enough, when I downloaded Firefox 3 RC2 and installed it I checked the "about firefox" box and it only says "Firefox 3.0" no mention of being "RC2" which all these notes has been a part of the old way. Could it be that what I have is 3.0 the full, new release?

Firefox 3 RC1 exhibited the same behavior.

It's meant to do that -- it's a Release Candidate. The idea is that they make a release candidate, release it, and if there's no problems, they just start calling it Firefox 3.0. As there's nothing to change, nobody has to download a whole new 10MB or so just to change the name in the About box. Turns out there were some problems with RC1, so they released RC2 -- exactly the same situation.

I have to say, I'm pretty satisfied with RC1 - maybe not entirely bug free, and I'm sure it will keep getting better, but I'm no great rush. I'll probably wait a few days for the add-ons to catchup first.

I guess I'll be grabbing the portableapps version tomorrow. For once I'm reading about a release, and portableapps.org hasn't gotten up yet.

It appears as though it's pretty "offical" now...just checked for updates from w/in Firefox and it discovered RC2.

starting this morning my pages and fonts looked huge! Every time I open a new tab I have to shrink the page (using ctrl-). Can anyone offer a more permanent solution?
