Preview: Clean up your music with tuneUP

TuneUP is an an application designed to help keep your iTunes library more organized. While a library of only iTunes Store music will be tidy indeed, if you have acquired music from many different sources, the ID3 tags might be a bit confusing.
TuneUP works by comparing the unique sound print of each song to a database, and if new information is available, TuneUP will fix the metadata and rename your songs. It's sort of like having a genius put your books on your shelf for you. Not only does it help with naming, but the software also is able to download album art automatically with a few clicks.
While the design of this software is superb and visually appealing, it doesn't quite deliver in the area of organization. It does indeed make more coherent ID3 tags for songs, but we had hoped that it would properly shelve everything into one album each, rather than the usual album fragments, (with track 1 and 4 in one album, 2 and 8 in another, etc). Hopefully this will be refined in the final release.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

There's also Musicbrainz Picard, which is platform independent (i.e runs on all Windows/Mac/Linux) and player independent. This great program saved me of those dreaded "artist - song01" tags:

Thanks for the post Ian, glad to see you liked the UI! We are definitely working on the organization elements, and your feedback is very appreciated. Clearly there are a lot of songs out there that appear on numerous albums and giving the user a choice of where he/she wants them is definitely something we're working on.
I also wanted to mention that TuneUp does a lot more than just the cleaning function, it also provides (again, all automatically based on your music collection) cover-art lookup, localized concert listings, music videos, recommended albums, artist web page links, and more. We think of ourselves as "your music's new best friend".

Gabe - My iTunes has saved everything by the 4 letter iTunes code. Will your product bring out the id3 tags, so that I can actually see what I have saved in explorer?
