Foxit Reader 2.3 has just been released, and not only is it quicker and lighter on system resources than Adobe Reader, but the latest version adds a ton of useful features like tabbed viewing. For some reason tabs took the web browser world by storm a few years ago, but failed to catch on in other applications. But if you spend a lot of time reading PDF files, we don't have to tell you how much less clutter you have on your desktop when you open your documents in tabs instead of separate program windows.
In addition to tabbed viewing, Foxit 2.3 adds:
- Bookmarks
- Multimedia playback in PDF files
- Text tool for adding comments to documents
- Rulers for aligning documents properly
- Magnifier for zooming in portions of a document
- Automatic scrolling
- Improved ability to print just a selected area of a document

no, i wouldn't like tabs. what i would like is a single-row toolbar that could deal with the window resizing without getting completely screwed up.

This seems pretty good. I like the tab idea... it's probably the one meme or fad or whatever I'm guilty of really getting into. My only two complaint with Adobe Reader are the slow load/ resource hod issue and how it always seems to choose some random zoom level when opening a PDF from the web. Really, why can't I set my preferred zoom level, or at least have the cursed thing default to always open to a zoom level of 100%? Should be simple!

It looks like Foxit is playing catch-up with PDF X-change viewer ( http://www.docu-track.com/home/prod_user/PDF-XChange_Tools/pdfx_viewer )

Finally, a version of FoxIT that shows the Cover Page on the right and centre-spreads correctly.

All of these are a little late (except maybe the multimedia playback)
PDF X-Change has been the way to go for a long time
