Restore deleted files with Pandora Recovery

We all make mistakes. Sometimes we put too much sugar in our coffee. And sometimes we accidentally delete the manuscript for the book your spouse has been working on for the last two years only to realize that it was the only copy. Well, there's nothing we can do about the coffee, but Pandora Recovery might help you get that manuscript back. And when we say "might," we mean it. There are no guarantees here.

Pandora Recovery isn't the only free file recovery utility around. But it does have an extraordinarily easy to use interface. When you launch Pandora Recovery, you'll be greeted with a helpful wizard that asks if you want to browse your hard drives, search for files or file types, or perform a deep scan of your drive for files.

There's also a portable version of the application which can be run from a removable flash drive. But Pandora Mobile Recovery isn't free. It's part of the Pandora PowerPack, which costs $20.

Recuva is free, does the same thing, and is also free to run from a USB stick. So...what's Pandora for, again?

The same reason there are numerous companies making antivirus products, firewalls, registry tools, media players, cd burning software, browsers, bittorrent clients, p2p software, photo editors and viewers, communication tools, email clients etc etc etc.

...the same reason we have a windows, osx and linux.... the same reason i choose to wear blue underwear on mondays and tighty whities on tuesdays...

That's a lot of typing just to miss the point.

Recuva does everything Pandora does, plus the portable version is free also, whereas it's stated here that Pandora's portable flavor is not. Hence, I don't see any reason to use Pandora.

All of your comparisons are flawed, as you're assuming Pandora = Recuva. Last time I checked, free > cost.

Jason - You're assuming free always means better. Some software (not necessarily this one) is worth paying for.

There's nothing wrong with multiple products and competition. Some compete on price, some on features. Competition encourages everyone to improve.

Recently I managed to delete all my pics and vids (3 years worth of that stuff) - this includes my kids photos and videos - due an unfortunate occurence my second backup was deleted the day before (I know, I know - it's all my fault).
Anyway, I tried Recuva and it found nothing (it found some things but only about 20 of thousands of images). I then used a more pricey product (i.e. not free) - I won't name it here so you don't think that I'm promoting anything - but as you can understand it found and restored ALL of them (as far as I can tell) - the funny thing was it managed to find apparently several layers of data - so it offered to restore more GB than were available on the drive...
Anyway - my sanity was restored for $40 - and it was the best $40 I have spent in a long time.

I would really like to know the product that you paid for Moshe and whether you know if it would work on a memory card. I recently got home from a trip to find that the only copy of our trip pics was a cd we mailed home and was cracked in the mail. We deleted the pics from the memory card when we put them onto the disc (I know this wasn't the smartest of moves) to make room for more pictures as we travelled. We filled the memory card and deleted it a second time. It seems that most recovery programs will only go back one delete. Does anyone know how we might recover these files now?

Price is not the only only consideration here. You also need to take into account the effectiveness in data recovery. Some benchmarking of the different programs would be very interesting and useful.

My company uses websense to filter bad site and it paged/categorised the pandora site as "keylogger". can anyone check and let me know if websense is wrong or the product is fishy?

Civiballs is a beautiful, soothing physics puzzle Time Waster

I have an absolute weakness for physics games, and while Civiballs isn't the strongest physics-based game, what it lacks in the physics department it makes up for a few times over in style and fun.

In Civiballs, you are presented with a few colored balls, and your goal is to get those balls into the same-colored urn on the level. The "civi" part of Civiballs is that there are 3 sets of levels to play, each representing a different civilization. While the civilization doesn't affect gameplay, the artwork for each level is beautifully themed to it's appropriate era.

To play the game, you are given only one tool - a sword with which to cut the chains that are holding the balls. The puzzle part of the game is in figuring out what order, and with what timing to cut each chain. Do it right, and all the right balls end up in the right urns, with no stray balls entering an urn (a no-no). Do it wrong, and you get to start over again.

Civiballs is not terribly deep on gameplay; the entire game can be completed in about 15 minutes. But if you enjoy this type of game, it will be a very enjoyable 15 minutes.
