Reduce your computer's electric use with LocalCooling

Basically, LocalCooling scans your hardware and figures out how many watts your monitor, hard drives, CPU, graphics card, and other peripherals are probably using. Once the program has this estimate, it can also track how much energy you're saving by adjusting your power saving settings to do things like shut off yourmonitor, hard drives, or PC when you're not using them.
You can also create an account to track your energy savings against other users, or create teams to compete against other groups of LocalCooling users if you want to get all competitive about it.

Garbage!
Try uninstalling this program and let me know how much trouble you've had. Any program that can't remove itself properly is not worth using and hardly adds to the developers credibility.

You need to keep the installer file around in order to uninstall this program. It's admittedly a little odd, but if you've already deleted the installer, it's a free download so you can always grab it again from the web site. But yeah, they really should improve this.

It doesn't seem to do anything that Notebook Hardware Control doesn't but looks cool for Desktops :)

Doesn't work. It estimated my 13.3" Core Duo T2080 laptop which has a 65W power supply is using 145W of power and has a 21" LCD monitor. With the optimized settings, it suggested that I'd save 65W of power, meaning it'd still be using 80W or so of power. Neither of those figures is realistic.
On my desktop it estimated the Athlon64-based machine connected to a 17" monitor was using 850W of power.
And it doesn't give you any options to change those settings - so it's impossible to get any meaningful savings information.
And it's installer refuses to let you uninstall it if you delete the installer. Smells like crudware capitalizing on the desire to save the planet.

and it sounds like you stomp kittens to get back at your abusive parents. chill out, get some meds, and learn like most people that have more than 6 months around PCs that you always save an uninstaller file.
This is a great program idea and I hope they succeed at widespread usage, as I see tremendous energy waste in the provate and govt business sectors and have fought to get users to quit being pigs.

I don't know about other people's estimates, but my power consumption estimate of 170 W seems pretty reasonable.

I installed local cooling just 5 hrs back. When I rebooted the system, it would load till the Login screen and after logging in it would crash! I had to go through safe mode and uninstall Localcooling. After that it started working fine.
