AbiWord 2.6 free word processor for Windows and Linux released
Version 2.6 is available now for Windows and Linux. It looks like the latest version of AbiWord for OS X is still version 2.4.6. The latest release includes a ton of updates including:
- GNOME office plugin that allows you to embed Gnumeric charts in documents
- Ability to open files on remote shares using samba, ftp, or ssh shares
- Improved language support
- Experimental collaboration plugin
- Experimental new Office Open XMl import filter
- Native Windows vista menus
- Drag and drop images in and out of Unix version of AbiWord

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

Cool as.... The available Abiword for os x blows big time however. It appears the os x development for this excellent wp has been dropped like a hot potatoe. A pity really because a free, streamlined, multi-format doc editor for the mac would be mint.

I believe the OS X version is currently being worked on, actually. They just don't have as many developers for that platform as they do for Windows/Linux, so progress is moving a bit slower.
