There are no release notes available for version 2.4 yet, but you can check out a list of features that are probably included by looking at the feature freeze testing page on the OpenOffice.org wiki. Honestly, most of the improvements seem pretty minor, unless you get really excited about things like:
- Display both in the data point label: value and percentage
- Reduce complexity: Remove unnecessary display options
- Remove GUI option "Automatic file name extension" from File-Save dialog (Office Dlg)

i cant do the 3.0 on my active machine, just my production beta stigma, but i may install it on my other computer. but for right now on my main machine it opens a good 10 seconds faster than 2.3, although that maybe cause i got rid of alot of the configuration files i didnt really need

It should be noted that Filehippo only carries the Windows version of OpenOffice 2.4.
And while 2.4 says it can be downloaded from the OpenOffice.org site now, the OS X Intel version was nowhere to be found. "The download you have chosen is not available."

There is no OS X Intel version of OpenOffice.org 2.4. If you want a native OS X version you'll have to download OOo 3.0 beta.
