Ubuntu 8.10 gets a code name: Intrepid Ibex?
The wacky developers behind the popular Ubuntu linux distribution have chosen a code name for Ubuntu 8.10, or the version that will be released after the next version. Following the longstanding tradition of giving each new version a two word name with an adjective followed by an animal, Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth has announced that Ubuntu 8.10 will be known as Intrepid Ibex. No, really. We admit, it's not easy to come up with good animal names starting with the letter I. But if you take a look at the list of proposed code names, we're pretty sure you could come up with a better name than that by throwing darts at your computer screen. Now, it's possible that the whole point of choosing a difficult to remember/pronounce name is to wean us off the habit of referring to Ubuntu distributions by their code names instead of their release numbers. Or maybe this is just some sort of cruel joke.
Anyway, Intrepid Ibex is scheduled for an October release, about 6 months after Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron's scheduled April launch.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

For a codename like that you would have to wait a while since it seems they follow the alphabet since edgy, things could change anyway and that would be a sweet codename

And "Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 2008 with Plus Pack" is better?

That's not much better, either. The naming scheme across operating systems is pretty awkward.

Also, it appears I gave into a troll. The closest your name gets is "Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition". The 2008/plus pack was just crap you tossed on. That's not early as bad as you made it out to be...

Irate Insect perhaps?
Aw well, too late for that.
Fingers crossed for "Jolly Jackass"!

I find the whole naming scheme over at Ubuntu pretty silly, myself. Fiesty Fox or whatever it was, something Heron... I don't know. Maybe it's just the frequency of updates and new names? At least Apple sticks on a name for a while due to the frequency of 10.x releases.

I prefer the zany and soulful "8.10".

Intrepid Iguana or Icy Ifrit sounded so much better...
