Mozilla updates Firefox and Camino, Firefox Beta 3 on the horizon
Mozilla has been busy in Patch-land (you know, the place right next to Never-Never land?), and Firefox 3 is almost one step closer to complete. Today Mozilla has released updates to both its Firefox and Camino web browser. Firefox 2.0.0.12 stomps out a reported 11 bugs, including one that posed a security threat to users who had installed any of the add-ons for the open-source browser. Camino 1.5.5 includes an update of the Gecko rendering engine and improves blocking of Flash animations and ad-blocking, among other fixes.
The updates can be downloaded from the browser's respective websites or from the browser's built-in updaters.
These new updates come along with news of the Firefox Beta 3 release date, which is pegged as February 11, next Monday. It has also been decided that a Beta 4 will be released later this month (tentatively scheduled for February 26) due to Mozilla's desire to clean up the Windows, Linux and Mac OSX themes and overall visual look.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...

I sure hope the theme will look ok. Anybody see the back button in some of the early designs of the Firefox 3 skin? Ugly as f##k, almost makes me think of switching to Opera.... naw actually I would simply install a new theme :P

For Windows or OS X? The OS X one wasn't bad but I saw a screenshot of the Windows theme and was really confused as to what that designer was chasing.

I installed FF2.0.0.12 this morning, it's a little snappier, and yeah I noticed a lot less "churning" from the hard drive when I have multiple tabs open. And my No Script plug-in didn't break.
Please contribute to the project by installing this latest version and reporting any issues you have to:

And if you have that fat tax return check just burning a whole in your pocket, please buy a FireFox t-shirt or one of those nice install CDs with the printed manual, that money helps keep FireFox going.

Spamming with the last link wasn't necessary. Just a thought.

It's not really spamming since it was relevant to the story and hey, he's just encouraging people to support the software if they are able.

I'm not sure what it was but when I installed the update the other day, my google IG page and gmail didnt work right. The problem had to do with the loading of frames or something I think. To fix it, I just had to create a new profile in the profile manager. Anyone else have this problem?

After playing in the Minefield (application name for nightly builds) on OS X, I'm glad they're reconsidering the graphical theme. The Buttons have rounded *sides*, instead of the rounded corners now prevalent all over the Leopard UI. They look like the pillbox buttons from Mail (which was confusingly not updated to Leopard's UI style) instead of the regular box buttons with rounded corners from Safari.
I was still very aware I was using something that wasn't Safari. It's a step in the right direction, sure, but I'd like to see them work on it.
