Is this what Windows 7 looks like?
Evidence is mounting that Microsoft has really given a select group of testers/partners an early look at the next version of the Windows Operating System. The other day a member of the Neowin forum posted a brief review of Windows 7 before deleting his comments. And now a Chinese web site has posted what could be real live pictures of Windows 7. Overall, these shots of Windows 7 (or an artist's fictional rendition thereof) show an operating system that looks a lot like Windows Vista. That's not particularly surprising, since Windows 7 won't be launched for at least another two years. Odds are most of the changes would be under the hood at this point.
The images do show a few difference. For example, you can display hidden items in the system tray through a new pop up window. The Control Panel features some rearranged menus, and the display properties dialog for changing screen resolutions looks pretty awesome. Check out the screenshots after the jump.

It will still be confusing as hell to find stuff. My advice? Get Ubuntu. Don't like Linux? Get a Mac.

Funny, one of the best things about Vista so far is how fast and easy it is to find things thanks to its search functionality. Where's your complaint that it'll be difficult to find things coming from?

Wow, what a salesman. Not.
If you don't like Microsoft, don't read this post and don't comment. It's that simple.

I understand that this might be because it's a working version and all, but wouldn't you think Windows 7 would be version, you know, *7* and not 6.1?? (see first screenshot, the About screen)
I can't find any screenshots of Longhorn/Vista that show its version number, so unfortunately I can't make a comparison there.

It's fake. Windows 7 should be v7.0 but they list it as 6.1. v6 of Windows is Windows Vista. Also, right after is says 'This product is licensed to...' it should say how much physical memory is available to Windows. The screenshots do not show anything similar to that. Also, didn't M$ state that for Windows 7 they wold be going for a 'simpler interface'? Why is this running Aero? (look at the flip 3d in the quick launch). I'm disappointed that DS fell for this.

You guys seem to forget how little time 7 has been in development. There will NOT be any great changes, just look at early builds of longhorn, they looked like XP. This could quite possibly be real.
And about the version number, why would they worry about that? Earlier builds of KDE4 were versioned 3.60,3.91 ect, until final of 4.0.
I heard somewhere that 7 would not be a huge release, rather a polish up of Vista, and would be versioned 6.1. We wont know until some kind of offical word.

Jeez Microsoft have lost their way. While I'm a fan of the Xobx and a fan of Windows since 3.11, they've offered us next-to-nothing with Vista and Windows 7 seems to be continuing the trend.

If this is the work of Photoshop, then Microsoft needs to hire this person; the window showing hidden taskbar icons is definitely something that has not been present in any Windows version thus far.

It's real.
http://www.thinknext.net/ also shows a video and a video cast. It's most defiantly real and not photoshop. tgdaily also shows screenshots which match these. All this matches the existing info from the review and insider confirmation of Windows 7, and we know M1 is already out there so you don't have to assume it's fake.
BTW: Microsoft always starts out early milestones with it looking very similar to the previous version, which is why it still looks so much like Vista. Same with the build number. Microsoft only got up to build 6000 when vista was ready. Before it was build 5xxx. It will be build 7000 when 7 is ready.
