Facebook to offer "Profile Clean-Up Tool"
Facebook has recently announced that they'll be rolling out a "profile clean-up" tool to its users allowing them to move Facebook applications to an "extended portion" of their profile. We think this is wonderful news since Facebook has slowly turned into Myspace where user profiles are full of garbage and the key information is buried beneath "What type of popsicle are you?" quizzes and "My favorite numbers are..." applications. This clean-up tool will naturally upset developers who are trying to monetize the Facebook API's, but how do they expect their applications to be seen on a 10-page profile anyway?Facebook says that in addition to displaying the standard things like personal information, mini-feed, and the wall, a profile will have up to 12 extra applications on the main profile page. Users will then be able to click a link on the profile to view the remaining applications. Leaner profiles should lead to faster load times and potentially a decrease in the number of users adding applications (since many users add applications when they see that their friends have something on their profile).
Maybe now we will stop getting ninja and vampire requests...

What they need to outlaw is the "invite" or "send to friends" page that appears after doing almost anything on these apps. I always click on skip, but I know a lot of people just click next and randomly annoy a bunch of their friends.
Basically I'm saying the act of telling your friends should be allowed, but it should not be passive.

I totally agree with that. I don't login to facebook often and each time I do theres a crap-load of requests.
Either facebook should do as you say or:
1)they should integrate an ignore-all button. I use a js script just for this.
2)They should consolidate requests. Every person who send me a request to use the same application shows up as a different entity. Why can't it just display it as the application name, description and then a consolidated list of people sending you requests.

i use the Boost Firefox extension. it lets you customize your Facebook settings like skins and gives you notifications when someone writes on your wall or something. you can also choose to hide applications on profile pages. i almost forgot what Facebook originally looked like until i used it. i would recommend it.

I get a million requests to everything on facebook, and i really have 3 choices because of that: Accept them all and clutter up my page and spam my friends with the same shit that was bothering me in the first place; deny them all and have a clean page but then find myself questioning why i'm on a social site if i'm going to be ignoring my friends... oh, and denying a million things a day is annoying as hell... ; or 3, stop using facebook because i don't want to accept them all but i also don't want to be on there if i'm just going to deny my friends and wade through spam...
So i chose #3: generally stop using facebook because i can't decide which apps i want, and i am sick of all the spam they create.
It's really annoying...

Have you tried blocking applications? You're probably denying the same applications from the same people multiple times.

its about freakin time. i hated when the opened stuff up to the load of garbage they have on facebook. i use the hot or not app the what phone i have app and imeem app thats it everything else is a waste of time and space. why do people need 4 walls? its sooooooooooooooo stupid. i yell at everyone on facebook for having multiple walls
