Xtra Windows Stability is one piece of software that claims to help the stability of the Windows OS. By forcing important subsystems of Windows into separate processes (Desktop, Explorer, and Internet Explorer), you have a higher chance of recovering the system if one of those subsystems fail.

There seems to be no way to uninstall it (besides rolling back on a backup.)
It creates some problems like disabling click and drop to recycle bin , programs opening up browsers (like authorizing flickr uploader), and other small things.
