By now, you're probably wondering what on earth the service could be used for. Let's share with you a few examples. Perhaps you're wanting to follow Download Squad's coverage of a particular operating system, category of software, or even a particular author's posts (all of which have feeds found by adding /rss.xml to the page's URL), you simply enter the Feed URL, your email address and your mobile phone number and Pingie does the rest. Easy!
Of course, when you're wanting up-to-the-minute event coverage say from sister sites' Engadget (at the Consumer Electronics Show) or TUAW (at Macworld Conference and Expo) this might just allow you to keep your finger on the pulse, no matter where you are.

Seems like a waste of text messages. Especially since not everyone has unlimited texting plans in the United States.
I use Viigo (http://www.viigo.com) on my BlackBerry for reading RSS feeds on the go. They make a Windows Mobile version as well.

Yep, you'd want an unlimited text plan for this.
FYI, the TUAW feeds list is at http://www.tuaw.com/feeds -- however, you can pull feeds for tags or specific bloggers as well...

Uh, more magical with correct URL: "tag" not "tags"

I use illumsoft's newsbreak on my Samsung i607. It will download all feeds (including audio and video podcast) in the background and shows me the number of new articles on my homepage.
This uses your data package so make sure you have an unlimited plan before you try this. But the great thing, for me, is that I dont have to sync my phone to get my podcast as it happens on its own.

I like the idea but I prefer this one: http://feeds.fastbreakmobile.com
I get longer alerts, can filter on keywords and I get pictures too...

Hopefully, this will solve the problem of my carrier not supporting facebook mobile. All I really want to know is stuff off of the notification feed. This may help considerably.

Here’s what we’ve got:
http://feeds.fastbreakmobile.com
It’s basically everything Pingie wishes it was….We send the message via MMS, resulting in 5x the information. We then send you to the rest of the article. Also, check out of the flexibility you get from the preferences!!! I wish regular RSS feeds were this customizable, then you’d only get the info you want.
Let me know what you guys think.
