There is an art to creating storyboards and finessing the running screen ticker, and doing screen transitions and adding graphics. However, with time and reading the wiki, this could probably be accomplished in a couple of days for a first timer.
Mogulus is free but they do insert a short ad on your screen every 10 minutes or so. You can collaborate with other Mogulus users to mix in real time. You can show their camera on your screen, so you can get reports from different locations just like the big networks do.
Mogulus is still in beta and it is definitely somewhat buggy. The concept however is mind blowing. Whereas YouTube was revolutionary in that it allows users to upload edited videos, Mogulus allows members to mix live and broadcast 24/7 in real time. Time will only tell if Mogulus reaches the tipping point of critical mass.
You can gather content from video on demand web sites, such as YouTube, most of which include a license for rebroadcast. However, some content may not be copyright cleared so you have to be very careful about what content you load to broadcast.
Technical requirements:
- Works on Windows and Mac operating systems, possibly Linux (they are currently testing for Linux).
- Recommended minimum Internet download connection speed of 500 Kbps for Web broadcasts and upload speed of at least 400 kbps if you want to use your webcam to broadcast live.
