Microsoft launches Office Mobile 6.1
Microsoft has released an updated version of Office Mobile for Windows Mobile 6 phones and PDAs. The biggest change is that Microsoft has added support for Office 2007 documents. It kind of baffles us that Microsoft would release Windows Mobile 6 around the same time as Office 2007 and not automatically include support for docx, pptx, and xlsx documents, but it's nice to see Microsoft catch up with itself here.
This is the first time that Microsoft has issued an Office Mobile update directly to consumers. Typically Office Mobile is built into the Windows Mobile operating system and is only available from hardware makers.
Office Mobile 6.1 also includes:
- Enhanced charts in Excel Mobile
- Ability to view SmartArt in PowerPoint Mobile
- Ability to extract files from zipped folders

My wife is looking to upgrade her phone/PDA combination to the AT&T Tilt. However, she is reluctant to do so if she cannot move her contacts, memos, calendar, etc from her Palm T2 and the contacts/phone numbers from her RAZR. Is there software out there that can accomplish both tasks --- or a combination that can do it?
