Odeo and FireAnt living under the same roof
Remember FireAnt? Back in the day, it was known as a hot internet video aggregator. While the trend has shifted toward web video sites like YouTube, or aggregators like Truveo, FireAnt offers a standalone video player/aggregator that lest you download and watch videos without a web browser. You know, kind of like Miro. Actually, come to think of it, FireAnt and Miro's interfaces are remarkably similar. But that's beside the point. The point is, FireAnt may be prepared to make a comeback. SonicMountain, the company that made headlines by purchasing podcast aggregator Odeo earlier this year has reportedly purchased FireAnt.
NewTeeVee reports that Odeo (SonicMountain changed their name after the acquisition) plains to integrate FireAnt and relaunch sometime around December. Imagine accessing Odeo's huge index of existing podcasts and podcast creation tools through a downloadable player. Or something like that.

Looks like a sticky wicket here from NewTeeVee:
The CEO of the new Odeo is Rick Arturo's old boss from Sivault, Dick Moore. He just bankrupted their former company Sivault to the tune of $47m in debt.
Does he really have a few skeletons in his closet?

He may be an an exceptional businessman and a great asset for Odeo, however, I would refrain from letting him drive me home from the new Odeo Holiday XMas Party.

I wouldn't hold your breath for a Fireant comeback anytime soon!
This guy kinberg has proven himself to be a liar by promising new software to a lot of us directly that he flat out knew would never materialize.
One only need visit kinberg's personal blog to see that he is neither an active blogger or media creator, something the ODEO folks must have overlooked when hiring him on.
Personally I'm sick and tired of blabber-mouth tech CEOs with little or no content experience, telling us what they think film makers need and want for online video technology. Ha!
Fireant promised to be a better way to distribute high quality video to the masses, but by the time they finally moderated the channel my college friends and I had been working on for months, it never saw the light of day on their dead website.
