Looking for a free Windows screen capture utility now that FastStone has gone from freeware to shareware? Well, for simple screenshots you can still just hit print screen and paste into your favorite image editor. Or you can use irfanview's screen capture utility to capture individual windows. But if you're looking for something a bit more advanced, you might want to check out Window Clippings. Why need extra software in Vista when you can use snip? It's definitely one of my favorite features in Vista.

Just a note that you don't need irfanview to capture an individual window. If you use ALT + Print Screen, it will only capture your active window.

Every article about screen grab utilities should include a mention of Snagit.
Snagit is worth every penny. I have used it just about everyday since I downloaded it (think I heard about it here).

You forgot to mention the sole reason why I like to use Window Clippings: Window shadows are preserved when using Aero.

Windows vista users, do what Josh says, just type "snip" into the windows search box (press windows key on keyboard)...I found it accidentally, recently, its ace! I'll miss it when I switch to mac completely
