YouTube launches custom video players
Here we have 7 videos created for or featured on Download Squad at some point during the last year. The nifty thing about the new player is that you can check each video out without leaving this page. The down side is that the player really wants to be 500 pixels by 430 pixels, so it doesn't quite fit into our site design. We had to crop it to make it sort of fit the page, so you can't see the glorious green border as Google intended it.
You'll need a YouTube account to create a custom player. And you'll probably want to create a new playlist in your favorites section unless you want to embed the videos of your cat prancing around the apartment along with your tech demos.

I read this story here last night, and noticed TechCrunch just posted the same thing this morning. So, just for the hell of it I posted a note in their comments with a link to this article saying that they'd been scooped by Downloadsquad.
Not only did they delete my comment (and apparently block me from posting more) I got a snarky email from them with excuses. Sad.
Let's have a big round of applause for the sore losers at TechCrunch ladies and gentlemen, and an even bigger round of applause for DLS for getting a scoop and making the TC guys cry. :)

To be fair, we first spotted the new player thanks to Google Operating System. But we did give them credit in the post.

When does the ginger-themed Rickroll edition come out?

YouTube Custom Players will be a big disappointment to you if you've been adding the "autoplay=1" command to the existing embedded code because the Custom Player politely ignores it. The "autoplay=1" command is accepted but your viewers will initially see the arrow in the middle of the screen for about one second before autoplay begins.

The autoplay does work on one custom player (no tracks listed on side) but it doesn't on the other (tracks listed on the side). Also, (at least in my page) one player only lets me have 12 videos max and the other kinda fluctuates in number, but still not all videos. Hmmmm....
