Answers.com buys Dictionary.com
Answers Corp will acquire Lexico Publishing Corp, the company behind Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Reference.com.
According to the press release, Answers is interested in Lexico because:
- Lexico web sites generate about three times the number of page views Answers.com does
- There's plenty of room to increase money-making opportunities on the sites
- Lexico properties get a huge amount of traffic from people typing "dictionary" in a search engine, making it a lot easier for people to find Answers web properties without search engine optimization

In my experience Answers.com information is identical to Wikipedia.

answers.com searces wikipedia, britannica, and other sources and puts them on one page
