Working on the assumption that the web browser isn't really the right tool for watching videos, Veoh is launching a private beta of VeohTV this week. Basically VeohTV is a standalone full screen application sort of reminiscent of Joost, in that you can easily navigate and watch videos in full screen. But while Joost has been partnering with companies like Paramount, CBS, and Viacom to provide content, VeohTV will let you watch pretty much any video on the web.
Which sounds great in theory, but have you tried blowing up YouTube videos to full screen? They tend to be pixelated at normal size. When you blow them up, they look awful. Still, if VeohTV can do a good job of displaying video from network television sites from within a single interface, it could become a killer app.
