AOL to offer unlimited email storage
In this blog's parent company's ongoing efforts to be more like Yahoo!, AOL will be updating its email service soon to provide "unlimited" email storage. The news comes just over two months after Yahoo! announced it would be removing its cap on email storage.In practical terms, of course, there's no such thing as "unlimited" storage. But since most users don't come anywhere near using up their 2.8GB or so of storage space on Google's GMail, it's probably safe to say that AOL and Yahoo! will be able to let a few users take up 5 or 6GB of disc space because most users will only need a few MB.
The updated AOL mail will also include an integrated chat window, embedded RSS feeds and the ability to search file attachments. AOL Mail became a free service 2 years ago, competing with web mail providers like MSN, Google, and Yahoo!

OMG, unlimited storage was reasonable but integrated chat window, embedded RSS feeds and the ability to search file attachments as well. This is straight copying. Yahoo! mail beta is by far the king!

AOL still deletes unread mail after 28 days, read mail after 1 to 7 days:

We need unlimited attachments as well IMO. Gmail doesn't allow .zip files though we can bypass it ;)

My firm runs several servers that host small sites, many of which are vanity. They include a lot of younger clients - most of whom have dropped POP email in favor of forwarded all their email to a Web-based hosting service (like Gmail) that works so easily with phones. I'm almost hoping that my (somewhat) older clients who use AOL will do the same thing!

Actually... AOL has offered unlimited mail to paying members for a long time (before Yahoo). The news is that its coming to its free service now to (instead of 2GB). There is a similar article on another blog that caused a firestorm of responses about a month ago(wish I could find it). This is not copying Y! it looks diffrent, unlike thier new homepage.
