Is Google planning to add search to Google Reader?
For a company that's primarily known for its search engine, Google's been a bit slow to add a search function to its RSS reader. The ability to search your read and unread feeds would come in handy about a thousand times a day when you're trying to recall that item you glanced at and quickly moved past.Martin Porcheron has spotted some changes in Google Reader's CSS file that hint that a search could be showing up soon. It looks like Google plans to add a search box to the right of the Google logo. Or this could all just be a big misunderstanding.
In somewhat related news, you may notice a link to your Google Reader Trends has popped up among the navigation links on the left side of the page, under your starred and shared items.

Oh, please let it be true. I've been dying for a search function since I started using Reader and never understood why it doesn't have one, seeing as it's a GOOGLE product.

Bout damn time. I can't tell you how many times I've been sorting by "oldest first" on a blog with 40+ new items, and accidentally didn't star something and the page got reloaded, or Firefox crashed, or my kid mashed the keyboard, or whatever -- and once it's marked as read, you have to trudge through the whole damn feed to find it if you want to star/share it... soooo annoying.

That´s good news, but for the time being Firefox users can also use a Greasemonkey script that lets you search using Google blogsearch directly from Google Reader.
You just have to download the Greasemonkey extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/748), restart the browser, install the script (http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/5958.user.js)... and a search box will appear in Google Reader, ready for you to use.

That sounds great. I hope it's true as it's definitely been a missing feature in GReader.. And from the masters of search, you'd think they would have remembered to include it.
