Truemors: worst Digg/Reddit clone ever?
The website lets users email, text, or call in a rumor, and visitors to the site can vote the rumors up or down. The interface is pretty similar to Condé Nast's Reddit. But instead of news, users are voting on rumors in business, entertainment, politics, and news categories.
But here's the problem. There's no moderator, and you can submit rumors anonymously. So just a few hours after the site went live, it was filled with spam. Not just spam like come visit my website spam, but also spam like "Guy Kawasaki open mouth kissed my labrador." Of course, genitalia enhancement ads should be showing up shortly.
The concept of a rumor ranking site is good. And there are a few legitimate rumors on Truemor. It's just not worth the time searching through the muck to find them unless something can be done to clean up the site a bit.

I wouldn't call it the worst one ever, but yes, the fact that everything can be done anonymously - and without registration - was a major oversight.

This is a perfect example of entrepreneurs trying to to rehash old ideas instead of actually working to develop value.
