YouTube tests in-line advertising
If you click on the text of the ad, you're taken to the advertiser's site. If you click the play button on the ad, a video commercial pops up inside the same window as the video you're watching. When the commercial ends, your video resumes.
The ads only play when you're watching the video via YouTube. We tried embedding this My Chemical Romance video in a blog post, and the ad didn't show up, which is nice. When you embed clips from other video sites, such as The Onion News Network, you may have to deal with pre-roll ads, which you can't get rid of, and which you don't make any revenue from.

@Mark: Get real. YouTube would have done video advertising with-or-without Google. You should be thankful that they have Google's expertise to draw on whenever they need it. And Google has given a lot of independence to YouTube; almost too much, IMHO.

In compliance with the advertising board this form is acceptable. It gives the viewer the choice to watch an ad but at the same time, it enables content to be seen that would otherwise fail to attract the attention of consumers. With country based clients there is an abundance of wealth in this form of advertising,it is clean and rewarding to those who do not have immediate access. "Well Done Google"!
