Microsoft finally issues iPod update for Windows Vista
So iPod owners who upgraded to Windows Vista earlier this year might have had some minor issues -- like all the data on their iPod becoming corrupted and unplayable.Apple's answer was to suggest iPod users not use Windows Vista. It seemed like a bit of a stretch to expect people to make their operating system choices based on their portable music device, but there you go. Well, if you've been holding of on upgrading your operating system, your wait is finally over. Microsoft has released an update that it says will solve the incompatibility problems.
If your data has already been corrupted, Microsoft suggests selecting the iPod in iTunes, clicking on the Summary Tab, and then clicking Restore. Apple recommends using Mac OS X instead of Vista.
