Second Life - GOP up to their dirty tricks

Interestingly, dirty campaign tactics are now de rigeur for virtual communites as in real life. The blogosphere is all a twitter about a recent defilement of John Edwards 08 headquarters in Second Life. It seems a group of Republican marauders vandalized the Edwards' campaign headquarters and even went so low as to put the candidate in blackface. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. When will those Republicans ever learn? This is going to ensure huge media exposure for the Edwards campaign for this week and maybe into next and might even replace poor Anna Nicole.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

you should stick to software because you political analysis is a joke...no one is going to care about this story...Edwards hired and had to fire 2 anti-christian bloggers did you hear about that?

Yeah, this is a great software page, and I hope that it stays well out of the divisive world of politics. Nothing good will come of this (people yelling at each other in comment posts is not a good thing).

I agree. What a crock of crap. Keep this political garbage out of Downloadsquad. Plus, I don't think it was "definitley a bunch of republicans", people just do stupid crap to get attention and the Edwards SL HQ was just a high profile target. Give it a rest and get out of the political spotlight.

Yeah because democrats never rest to vandalism.
Like when they removed the 'W' from all keyboards and cut phone lines at the White House after Al Bore lost the election.
Knowing Edwards campaign they probably did it to themselves and are trying to frame the Republicans so they will get some good press for a change.

Yeah, this is going to do a CRAZY amount of damage to the GOP. Incidents in online games ALWAY make for huge media splashes. Hell, I remember the great WoW Dust up when a bunch of Druid Vets for Peace smeared Kerry. Man, that's all people were talking about!
The media will pick up on this right after they pick up all the "too bad they missed" comments left on left wing wacko sites in regards to the attempted Cheney assassination.

This is "political garbage"? The OP mentioned a tech/geek related occurrence in an online virtual world that happened to take place between Democrats and Republicans (one would assume anyways).
I've voted mostly Republican in the last 2 elections and I didn't take any offense to (or see any reason to) his comments. I'd even say that I appreciated hearing about this news. Kinda funny, imho! Well, gave me a 'He He' anyways...

Gotta say, I'd be pretty surprised if it were actually "Republican operatives" -- I'd think they've had enough race-related media run-ins that they'd have learned better than to put anybody "in blackface".
And to those who don't think the post is political -- uh, look at the headline. It may be a bit tongue-in-cheek, but you have to remember that nowhere does anybody offer any actual proof that it was GOP operatives (or even, for that matter, individuals who happen to support the GOP).

How do they know for sure it was Republican hackers? Because someone said it was? How can you confirm this? Actually, a great tactic would be if Democrat hackers did it and blamed the Republican hackers, lol. I imagine whoever did it giggling at all the press it's getting...SUCKERS!!!

You're simply wrong, just like John Edwards' campaign staff, about who was behind the attack. It wasn't republicans or any other politically motivated group. It was a well known group of Second Life vandals. They specialize in attacking high profile events/locations for 15 minutes of fame.
Bill is right...they're most likely giggling like crazy over their "aaaaaawesome" stunt.

Wonder if you're ready to alter the title of this asinine and ignorant post. They know who did it, and even better, they know why. Because whoever set up the John Edwards area set it up to allow anyone to build on the land.
