Digg nixes Top Diggers

Starting today the "Top Diggers" list at Digg no longer exists.

In a blog post on Digg The Blog yesterday Kevin Rose announced that the site has decided to get rid of the list (get your last look here while it lasts). The list which was created in the early days of Digg has recently become a virtual phone book for individuals looking to hire someone to get their content promoted to the front page. While Digg maintains that everything that makes it to the site's homepage legitimately deserves to be there they feel doing away with the list makes the most sense for the integrity of the site.

The "Top Diggers" page was originally added to Digg to promote users to submit content. Afterwards it was left up to help new Digg users find content through looking at a top users profile. Digg now feels that there are better ways than using the list for users to connect and has plans to roll out new programs to connect users by interest in the coming months.
