I hope that some day Microsoft will decide to buy Apple and to simply shut it down. Without any specific reason. Just to make everyone in the world feel good. Yeah, that would be great.

I like these British ads better than the American ones.

Truly, I don't understand all the vehemence between Apple and Microsoft... "I'm better than you" and "tit-for-tat" mentality doesn't get us anywhere. Why can't we all just get along? ;-)

There are aspects to each system that are to be admired. If anything, these companies should stop trying to "one-up" each other and just concentrate on putting out better products.

I do realise I'm nitpicking but I really wish they'd qualify the "PC" as a "Windows PC" in these ads. Otherwise its false advertising. PCs do run other operating systems, you know -- most of them way more secure and stable than OS X.

It'd be good if Apple spent their advertising pounds on localising OSX into UK English rather than ramming these localised adverts down our throats.

I work in an office which uses Macs and PCs. And I've sen people hitting their heads on their desks in frustration at both of them...

But it's good to see Mitchell and Webb living up to their usual stereotypes...

I can honestly say that, as a PC professional, these ads have severely ticked me off. I will never buy an Apple product, since as a PC user I must be too dull and stupid to own one anyhow.

Pity, really, I was thinking about a new Ipod.

The "I'm better than you" and "tit-for-tat" are rather one-sided attacks from Apple to M$. I can't remember Microsoft ever bashing Apple - since they dominate the market they probably just don't have to.

I think, these adverts are fantastic. Apple don't appear to be trying to 'one-up' micorsoft, instead they concentrate on making the best os and applications in the world. It's true that Office has certainly made some really interesting innovations with UI design, but OSX is the perfect OS for the general public, it focuses on the home and family as well a being incredibly smooth and fun to use.
I you are a developer, sure, run Linux or whatever...

These adverts are intended to make people laugh, and showcase an OS that is far more elegant and people friendly than any other.

And some people just lack personality to live with that. Instead they get aggressive and insulting. THAT's what these adverts are showcasing.

Essentially, Micorsoft and Apple are both massive multinational corporations whose audiences range so substantially that they overlap and compete. Apple has an air of superiority and smugness that most if it's users (like me) also have...and to be honest it wouldn't be the same if everyone had a Mac anyway. And PCs running windows seem to be stuttering a bit with innovation (which is what I'm interested in), I just get fed up with the lack of intuitive design; and OSX works the way I want it to.

Linux is cool, I've used it, but as always it's just down to personal preference.

Yeah that would never happen. If anything, one day businesses will do the switch to apple. The only thing really keeping microsoft alive was all the game developers and directx.
Further, with vista on it's way in tomorrow, I think it's a lame ass excuse for an upgrade. I mean, pretty much all pc's on the market now can't handle it, and they've just been copying apple for years. If microsoft bought apple, who would they copy from? Microsoft would have to go out of business as well. Apple has been making their operating system look nice since about OS 9. Microsoft's Windows XP is okay as long as you've updated it, have a firewall and antivirus protection (and haven't installed IE7 critical update).
Hopefully, many businesses' expensive software licences will be over soon, they can switch over and be done with all this bullshit. Then maybe, we can have some decent graphics and a stable system, and I don't think buying Apple is an option.

The adverts are funny, but most are blatent lies.

"you wouldnt run your home like an office so why have an office computer in your home" - sorry is apple saying that their computers SHOULDNT be used in offices?
Restarting - yeh as if Macs never freeze up.
Virues - do exist on Macs. I dont think apple should be advising people to ignore the risk. Also they might want to think about why antivirus software exists for macs if it's not needed... are they just trying to rip people off?
All the stuff about compatibility... who are they kidding? The fact it took so long for apple to make their computers more compatible isnt microsofts fault... granted MS could have helped the situation but then their not the ones trying to sell their product based on the fact that it works with the competition.

"it just works" oh really? then why do websites like "macfixit forums" exist.
