Create a family tree with Geni
Creating a family tree seems like a boring thing to do. Don't get me wrong, its great to know where you've come from, but jotting it down on paper or in a massive, messy Excel document are not that appealing. Enter Geni. Michael Arrington broke the news on this intuitive family tree tool created entirely in Flash last week, and it just launched on Tuesday. Geni is like a living organism that beautifully expands your family information, and molds in to others on the web. Its ultimate goal is to create a family tree of the world. When you start to enter your information, you have the option of entering email addresses for each person added. Geni will then send out the tree to them as well. They add their data, thus expanding the tree further. It's a far cry from the pen and paper most trees are created on, and also much more interesting to navigate through.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

Pretty slick site. By no means quick...but that's par for most beta programs. Reading through the FAQ, the only people that can see your tree is the ones you invite--good idea, when you consider how much information could be gleaned from it. Though I quickly came to the conclusion that my memory absolutely blows. Pretty sad when you can't remember your uncle's name...let alone your cousins.

I tried it out, looks pretty cool and extremely intuitive. I started my tree...did something else...came back and forgot my password already! Hopefully I can get it back and keep on working on it. Nice domain that's easy to remember!
Very impressed overall!

I already found a major show stopper. Geni automatically assigns oppostie-gender when adding a spouse, which completely negates gay couples and their families, as well as alternative families.

Erik: You can add a spouse and then change his gender to whatever you want under "edit info." It just starts out with the opposite gender, but you can change it.

Family tree i am doing….!
It was a great experience for me to have something like geni. I found it extremely useful for making a family tree.
But i would like to add something which is much like a geni, its Kincafe.
I would like you to particpate in beta release of Kincafe and provide feedback at andy@kincafe.com
Thanks
