Thunderbird 2 Alpha 1 in developers preview release
Get ready for the next release of Mozilla's Thunderbird email client. The new version is currently available in beta - Message tags

- Add-ons manager for extensions and themes
- Extension system updates for enhanced security
I haven't used Thunderbird since an early release; this is really making me want to try it out again. Do you use Thunderbird regularly? If you don't, will you be willing to try this new release once it comes out?
Update: My mistake, it was Thunderbird 2 Beta 1 that was released this week. As noted by Claus.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

Actually....
I think that the latest release version for Thunderbird 2.0 is now at Beta 1 release, not Alpha 1.

I will try this out but I'm not hopeful. I'm still awaiting the Firefox of email clients but Thunderbird never seems to nail it.
If they did then I could get my mate off Outlook Express, which for all it's faults IS easy to use and navigate.
They just need to hone the essential features and make them accessible and take a few pages out of Gmail's book.

They're working on Beta 2 buddy.
Beta 1 is pretty good.
I'm looking forward to tabbed Thunderbird in version 3.

I use Thunderbird for all of my POP mail EXCEPT at the office, which is an Exchange shop so I'm roped into Outlook there. I was hoping they'd integrate a calendar with T-bird this time out. It's nice to be able to manage several e-mail accounts in Thunderbird, but it's basic messaging and not much more. I probably won't leap into the Beta, but when they release v.2 I guess I'll upgrade. Tabbed messaging would be nice, but I'm hoping the tags will help make browsing/threading easier. It would be nice to have a desktop version of GMail that could pick up non-Google POP accounts. Being able to store/manage as a conversation would be nice.

I use Thunderbird as my mail client, super easy to create multiple address and as a RSS reader, wouldn't go back to Outlook Express or Outlook.

Thunderbird is my e-mail client of choice. Although the spam filter isn't that great a learn for me it's better than Outlook Express. Tags might be nice. I just want better spam filtering.

I used Thunderbird when my company provided me an IMAP account. There aren't any good IMAP clients available and thunderbird just seemed to be better than the rest including outlook.
Its certainly better than all the outlook expresses of the world but still can't beat the exchange-outlook combo that my company switched onto.
