YouTube on your mobile device

youtube videos on mobile devicesCould YouTube soon be seen on your mobile device? Well, yes indeed according to Chad Hurley, YouTube's CEO. He released the details at the recent OgilvyOne Digital Summit in New York, and said that they hope to have something up on mobile devices within the next year. Katie Fehrenbacher over at GigaOM, says that YouTube's mobile strategy is unclear, but the options are there to do a carrier deal, or go straight to the consumer. Given the copyright issues with YouTube content, carriers could tend to shy away from that deal. However, mobile usage is huge, and only getting larger by the year, YouTube is hungry for a piece of it. Currently YouTube does have the ability for users to upload video clips directly from their mobile phones for viewing on the web, but only through personal computers. YouTube is the market leader in providing video online, this move to mobile could push them into total video domination.

What do you think; would you be inclined to view YouTube videos on the go?
