Flash Player 9 beta for Linux released

At long last, Linux users can finally get a version of Flash Player 9 that runs natively in their OS. Yesterday Adobe released a beta version of Flash Player 9 for Linux. Linux users have been waiting a very long time indeed for this release, having suffered with Flash Player 7 for years while Windows and Mac users got to play with Flash Player 8 and then 9.So, have any of our Linux brethren tried this new Flash for Linux yet? I've heard it hangs and crashes, but I'll be installing it shortly and going to www.weebls-stuff.com where most of the animations require flash 8 or greater.

No crashes and just one hang (one one specific website) during the day. Ubuntu Dapper 6.06.

I havent had any crashes, but I have also not seen any improvement on performance.
Also various flash websites still give me the 'you need to download flash 8' error when I try to view the flash.

no serious problems so far. i can go to most flash websites now. using dapper 6.06. i don't see any difference from the old version 7. well at least i don't feel as restricted as before

No major problems so far. Only one hang/crash. The only cosmetic problem I have seen is that javascript roll-overs still are forced behind flash objects. It is not a problem on Windows, just Linux. I reported that bug... at least I think I did. I am not too sure about how their bug reporting is supposed to work.

chuk: That's correct, but Flash Player 8 for Windows was released more than a year ago, and was never released for Linux. Ergo, Linux users have had to wait a year longer than Windows users for Flash Player 8's functionality.

Don't know what I've done wrong - but for me, Firefox crashes continuously if I'm using flash, sometimes even when I'm not and no sound works at all.
I'm Dapper with Beta 2.
I'm not gonna give up and search the forums...

Jack it is a problem with the depth you use for your xserver ; it must be 24bbp or flash crash.
change the default in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Hope they will correct that later.
