Consolidate your email with Jump2Mail
A few weeks ago I wrote about ePrompter, a standalone (Windows-only) email notification app with a UI reminiscent of Windows 3.1. Responses in the comments ranged from nonplussed to downright offended (including speculations about malware). Now, I'm no ePrompter cheerleader; I just report on what I find. And today I've found a much better - and much more Web 2.0! - solution for managing multiple email accounts.Jump2Mail bills itself as a "free web-based email retrieval application" that lets you check all your email accounts from one central location. Its web-based approach to email management makes a lot more sense than the desktop-centered approach offered by ePrompter, since these days most of us move around and use more than one computer.
In addition to allowing users to send, receive, delete, and reply to emails, Jump2Mail also includes:
- Planning and reminders
- Spam filtering
- Personal rules
- Contact management
- Ajax-based RSS reader
- Support for 7 different languages
Oh, and did I mention the delicious-looking strawberry icon?
So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

I've used eprompter for years and it works great. I don't think it has malware, spyware, adware or any other little buggers. As for Jump2Mail - why would you want to look at your personal email through someone elses website? For anyone concerned about privacy and keeping their passwords and email to themselves, it doesn't look like a very good solution. Personally, I think eprompter is a much better and much safer solution.

Eprompter is NOT spyware. it does have it's limitations in that no attachments are downloaded at all.it DOES download Yahoo e-mail ! as with most other e-mail accounts.

Yahoo allows POP, but only if you have a Premium Account (that is to say, not free).

Thomas,
You have to select the appropriate flag on the site that represents what language you want. The link I provided was in English, btw.

@AmberRhea
Yahoo! does allow free POP access. If you're under the new Beta, go take a look at your forwarding options. You might be surprised at what you find.
