Features that didn't make it into Vista
Microsoft's Shell Blog is running a self-effacing piece called Features that didn't make the cut, an amusing look at several features that were allegedly planned for Windows Vista but were removed for obvious reasons. Among them are Mimesweeper, a version of Minesweeper with "something that people also wanted to avoid finding," and a TECO code interpreter built into the Start menu. It's nice that Microsoft's developers have a sense of humor about all of the promised Vista features that won't see the light of day, but at the same time it makes their absence hurt that much more.
So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place.
