PixRuler makes measuring easy
Do you ever have a need for a screen ruler that will just sit on your desktop and help you measure stuff, or assist you with the distance between objects? PixRuler is a fairly lightweight app that does just that. It installs quickly, and claims to be virus and spyware free, and while it hasn't given me any trouble, that claim is unsubstantiated at this point. PixRuler comes in three fabulous flavors (all in one download) blue, green, and orange. It reminds me the slightest bit of Apple's colorful iBooks, but that is beside the point. I imagine this app would help developers, screenshot junkies, and possibly your everyday Joe. What would have been nice to see is a two-way ruler. I like the fact that you can rotate the ruler either vertically or horizontally, but not both at once.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

My personal preference is for Cool Ruler: http://www.fabsoft.com/products/ruler/ruler.html

For Mac, I use FreeRuler. Also free, easy to use does just what it's supposed to.

As mentioned above, Cool Ruler kicks ass over PixRuler. I've been using Cool Ruler for years, it's half the size of PixRuler & way more configurable.

As mentioned above, Cool Ruler is the bomb. Far smaller than PixRuler & way more configurable. I've been using it for years.
