DLS reader and FreeMacBlog webmaster Brian has put up a nice summary of the the available screen recording options for the Mac (at least the affordable ones). The list is a good rundown that features some old favorites as well as some new players. His pick of the litter is iShowU. Actually, it seems, surprisingly, to be the only real contender. None of the other options offer audio and video recording for Intel and PPC macs. The venerable Snapz Pro X demo wouldn't even launch on his MacBook.
So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. SnapzProX works on my Macbook Pro. It records video and screenshots, but not sound. However, I've been looking for a replacement since they're obviously too lazy to come out with a universal version. It's the only program left slowing down my laptop. So thanks for the list!

Ambrosia is working on updating Snapz Pro to be intel native--it's their best-selling piece of software, of course they're going to make it intel native--it sounds like it'll come out quite soon: http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=106031
