Stumble Upon StumbleUpon.com
While doing some poking around the traffic stats here I stumbled upon a domain I had not heard of but sounded interesting. It was StumbleUpon.com so I went over to check out what the site is.
What StumbleUpon is, is an interesting new way of "stumbling upon" new sites. Once you register for free you can download a tool bar for Internet Explorer (they also have a FireFox extension available). Using the tool bar you give sites "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down" ratings which the system uses to match up sites from people who has the same ratings of sites.
You can view a demo at the site. Check out screen shots after the jump.
These are selected parts of a few of the screen shots available from the screen shots page at StumbleUpon.com so go there to check out even more shots. You can also click these previews to see the full shots.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...

This is like channel surfing for the web. It's been around for a good while.

I discovered Stumble-Upon through the Mozilla add-ons page. At first it was pretty neat, but then sites I didn't ant to see started popping up. One of the interests I checked was sports,so S-U took me to nhl.com and mlb.com. These sites are so obvious that they don't belong on stumble upon.

Oh my goodness, I've been using StumbleUpon for ages! Lately I've not had time but when I did I discovered sites I didn't even know existed. You don't believe me, check out my bookmarks sometime, which is why I'm glad I found FURL.

Stumbleupon was great, however, when I was using it I found there were limits to it's database size. Alas. Del.icio.us was up and coming at the time, so I jumped ship.

Stumbleupon is great for lazy people who want to blog sites they find or a quick way to bookmark for later. If you like stumbleupon you might like bluedot.us

Definitely a very cool service for when you're bored at work. It is unfortunately becoming a favorite tool of the SEO-spammers to abuse, but SU is doing some pretty ok filtering i think.

SU used to be a great service but with recent updates they've made it harder to report sites in wrong categories and the like and a total lack of support. A goodly portion of what I see on it now is SEO Spammers and links to trojan-horses. It's gotten so bad that I haven't used it in several weeks and will probably just remove it from Firefox soon.
Rest in Peace SU.
