Microsoft confirms Vista RC1 on its way
Now, after Vista's two betas, Microsoft will release Vista RC1, instead of a third beta. Many beta testers have urged Microsoft to wait on the RC1 release, and put out another beta, which would have been beta 3. It seems like Microsoft may be trying to rush the RC1 release to look better after so many delays. Vista could certainly use all the time it can get, since this will be the source of Microsoft problems for the next 10 years, if that is in fact how long Vista will last out in the market. Anyone who was part of beta 2 (the public beta) you will be given the chance to get Vista RC1, and the release will be available to everyone who missed beta 2 also.[Via BetaNews]

In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Does it really matter what they name it? I mean if they feel it's not ready they could easily make and RC2 (which they will most likely) and then an RC3. The name's really not that critical. Just because they choose to release and RC1 on time does not mean that they will RTM Windows Vista at the end of October. This really changes nothing. Finally, I've seen a lot of improvement with Windows Vista. It's now a lot faster everywhere including the install. I got a 20 minute install of build 5472 compared with a 45 minute install of Beta 2. If that's not progress, I don't know what is.
