Swift: A Windows web browser based on Apple's WebKit
Got Safari-envy but stuck in Windows? Swift is a brand new open source web browser for Windows that's based on WebKit, the rendering engine that powers Apple's Safari, which in turn is based on KHTML from the Linux browser Konqueror. Swift is a free download, but it's in very early alpha. It's a functioning browser that will load web pages--very quickly, in fact--and has a modal/tabbed interface and a search box, but otherwise has basically no frills, not even bookmarks, and crashes are frequent. Still, definitely a project to keep an eye on.

Swift is insanely fast at rendering pages, it's just too bad it's so incredibly Alpha. It doesn't even render password input fields, reducing it's usefulness for me even further.
Still, once they get it a bit more stable I will be hard-pressed to stay with Firefox for general browsing. Firebug and Web Developer tools will keep me with Fx for web dev work, but swift's just so much faster.

Very nice. If this works well enough, we'll be able to test on Windows how pages are rendered on Safari.

Very cool for the devs that you mentioned this. I'm looking forward to later builds of this when things are a bit more stable.

Safari is one of the fastest browsers namely a light-speed-browser but only available in glamorous Mac OSX platform, so Swift will let us experience its enhanced capabilities -thanx to the Konqueror of LinuX- that would soon rock our world regarding an Internet Explorer-free super fast browsing thru the web.
Oh yeah ;)

I would love to get Swift and check it out. I must have just missed the boat however, because both GetSwift.org and GetWebkit.org are unavailable at this time.
I've looked all over the internet for 2 straight days, trying to find a copy of Swift 0.1 that I could get from another site. I thought maybe some downloading site like Download.com or Sofpedia.com would have a copy, but no. Or maybe I could find some mirror site to download it from, no luck with that either.
The only way I can think of to get a copy at the current time, would be to have someone send me the installer program for it. If they haven't already deleted it off their computer, of course.
I'm still out there looking for a copy of Swift. If anyone still has the installer program for Swift, I would love it if you could send it to me. I would also love it if someone could tell me of a site where I could download it. Maybe someone who has access to their own web site could upload the installer program, and then I could download it from there.
Any help I could get for getting Swift will be greatly appricated. I would put up my email address so that you could get ahold of me, but I fear that it would get abused. If you have any information that you want to get to me, you can put up a comment in here, and I can get it that way. I will be coming back here often to check for any replys to my inquest.
Please help me out with this. Thank you.
Many Thanks,
--Josh
