Microsoft Private Folder 1.0 available
Microsoft has released a free download for Windows Genuine "Advantage" approved customers called Microsoft Private Folder. Installing this download will give the user one password-protected folder, called "My Private Folder". This folder will be encrypted to allow users to keep files private on otherwise shared computers. This functionality already exists in an open-source project called TrueCrypt (with a bunch of additional features), but if you'd rather be running Microsoft software, Microsoft Private Folder is now available.

Well, I guess that this will "phone-home" the encryption key... for our safety of course. I'd just love MS to be checking out my porn stash...

I prefer Winrar. It does the same job most excellent. In addition, it compresses the folder also.

the program is maybe worth to check out, as being withdrawn for "administration" issues. i suspect it works too good for the taste of some.
