Bill Gates stepping down as Microsoft chief engineer
In big, but not especially surprising, news, Microsoft has announced that founder Bill Gates is stepping down from his role as Chief Software Architect, to be replaced by current CTO Ray Ozzie. Over the next two years, Gates will be making a transition from full-time with Microsoft to part-time there and full-time at the Gates Foundation, the health and education charity founded by he and his wife Melinda. He will continue in his role as Microsoft's chairman and chief advisor. Head over to the Microsoft web site for the press release as well as streaming audio of the press conference.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
