I have an absolute weakness for physics games, and while Civiballs isn't the strongest physics-based game, what it lacks in the physics department it makes up for a few times over in style and fun.
In Civiballs, you are presented with a few colored balls, and your goal is to get those balls into the same-colored urn on the level. The "civi" part of Civiballs is that there are 3 sets of levels to play, each representing a different civilization. While the civilization doesn't affect gameplay, the artwork for each level is beautifully themed to it's appropriate era.
To play the game, you are given only one tool - a sword with which to cut the chains that are holding the balls. The puzzle part of the game is in figuring out what order, and with what timing to cut each chain. Do it right, and all the right balls end up in the right urns, with no stray balls entering an urn (a no-no). Do it wrong, and you get to start over again.
Civiballs is not terribly deep on gameplay; the entire game can be completed in about 15 minutes. But if you enjoy this type of game, it will be a very enjoyable 15 minutes.

I mentionned it over there - it's too damned expensive. If MS wants everyone using its OS, they need to drop the price. If they were to charge $50 apiece, EVERYONE would use a LEGAL copy (well, not everyone, but you get the point). Software shouldn't cost that much when it's a standard - Acrobat, Photoshop, Office... they should all cost under $100!

That is a lot of money, but almost no one gets their OS at retail. Virtually everyone gets it bundled and I would suspect even more people that usual will with Vista due to the hardware requirements. If you have to get new hardware anyway, there is no cheaper way to get the OS than with the hardware.

I build all of my computers. Therefore, I always get my OS at retail. Although, I try to get it OEM from somewhere like Newegg if I can, since it's much cheaper. I've always been happy that I could build a pretty sweet PC for about $600-$700. Now I'm going to have to add $450 to that to upgrade to Vista. Hopefully they'll have some sort of special upgrade price like they usually do.

Wow... that's triple the cost of OSX.

That's correct, Brett -- and you get one-tenth the security and maybe half the ease of usability. Anybody who pays this -- please contact me, I have a slightly used Shittle I will part with for a mere $100,000.
