While I tend to be partial to the former description rather than the latter, in all honesty I believe it's a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B.

This is really funny. I found it to be just useless but funny and had a good laugh. Yes for bringing quick refreshmenet the virtual high five is very nice. Well, i did not try it because of my concern for my monitor.
