Google Maps adds streets and directions for Europe
Google Maps
has received a significant update in the form of much more road and street map coverage for Europe. The coverage is far
from total, with some regions getting comprehensive street maps and others getting only major roads or less, and many
areas still lack address search or door-to-door driving directions, but it's a vast improvement for European users. Google Maps Mania
predicts, and I have to agree, that this will pave the way for a whole new crop of European maps mashups.[Via Digg]

It's interesting how Google Maps Mania describes this as being "ALL of Europe", while it doesn't include the country where Googles hides "European Headquarters"!

I've tried it for my hometown, Gent, Belgium, but the level of detail is not yet sufficient. Only the main roads are there.

It's about time.
For Belgium, you may try Google earth, I had some luck around Namur and Liege, don't know about Gent though.
