Feed43: Roll your own feeds for any site

Feed43Awhile back I linked to Atomibulator, a web service that will give you an Atom feed for any web site, even those that don't easily lend themselves to feeds. At the time I called it "a bit crufty," and it still is. Feed43 is a similar service, but the execution is far superior. Feed43 lets you do advanced screen-scraping on any web page, meaning you can get only the information you're interested in whenever it's updated. Be warned, however: This is not for those who are afraid of HTML. To create a feed with Feed43, you have to tell it which parts of the HTML source to look for and how to use it. It's very powerful, but not for the lazy. If you want to see what's involved in creating a new feed, the Feed43 blog has a couple tutorials, including one that shows how to get a feed for the weather from Weather.com. Right now Feed43 is in private beta, but I signed up and got an invite about 20 minutes later.

digg_url = 'http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/11/25/the-atari-classics-are-back-and-free-to-play-asteroids-lunar-l/'; Believe it or not, Atari have just released a bunch of old games on their own website. These aren't clones, these aren't even 'loving interpretations' -- these are the real thing, remade by Atari themselves. This comes as part of a re-launch for the Atari website which includes an online store. I warn you, if you read on, this might turn into more than just a mere ten-minute time-waster. ...
